Main Purpose of the Job

Main Tasks

  2. Student Evaluation: Implement fair and comprehensive evaluation techniques to gauge students’ understanding and academic performance accurately.
  3. Research: Contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of accounting and auditing through impactful research endeavors. Pursue scholarly publications and presentations to enrich academic discourse.
  4. Administration: Efficiently manage administrative tasks related to course coordination, student records, and other academic responsibilities to ensure smooth operations within the department.
  5. Control and Organisation: Exercise diligent control and organization in all aspects of academic delivery, maintaining adherence to quality standards and institutional protocols.
  6. Community Service & Marketing: Actively engage in community service initiatives, leveraging academic expertise to address societal needs. Contribute to the university’s marketing efforts by showcasing the excellence of its academic programs and faculty expertise.

The Lecturer positions primarily focus on the following subject fields:

  • Cost and Financial Management I, II & III
  • Financial Accounting II and III
  • Financial Reporting IV
  • Accounting Software

About the Appointment

Nature of Appointment

Successful candidates will be appointed on a permanent academic basis, reflecting CUT’s commitment to fostering long-term professional relationships.

Minimum Salary Scale

The minimum salary scale for the position amounts to R 733,299 per annum, inclusive of the Total Cost to Company. CUT adheres to an internal parity model, ensuring equitable remuneration based on qualifications and relevant experience.

What are we looking for?

Minimum Qualification/Knowledge and/or Experience

Candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and experiences:

  • A relevant Master’s-level degree (i.e., M Tech/Masters/NQF 9 or equivalent)
  • Professional Accountant (SA) registration with SAIPA, or Chartered Accountant (South Africa) (CA(SA)) registration with SAICA
  • At least two years of teaching/lecturing/industry experience in relevant subject fields

Desired Qualification, Knowledge, and/or Experience

In addition to the minimum requirements, candidates with the following experiences are highly desirable:

  • At least two (2) years of relevant industry experience in an accounting practice
  • Evidence of research output (publication/presentation at a national conference)
  • Progress towards a Doctorate degree is advantageous
  • Proficiency in Pastel and CaseWare software is recommended
