A Leading Centre of Knowledge

In his address, Prof. Alfred Ngowi, the acting Vice-Chancellor and Principal, highlighted CUT’s evolution into a leading center of knowledge, positioned as a leader in various technological and innovative fields within the higher education landscape.

“Unlike traditional universities, CUT brings a wider variety and diversity into the higher education sector by contributing meaningfully through our graduates to innovations and competitiveness in various industries,” said Prof. Ngowi.

Unique Learning Programmes

CUT stands out as the only university in the Central Region to offer a unique blend of learning programmes, including Engineering, Radiography, Clinical and Biomedical Technology, Entrepreneurship, Hospitality Management, and Tourism Management, among others.

Exceeding Enrolment Targets

A significant achievement for CUT is surpassing its enrolment targets for 2024 by over 100.09%. Particularly noteworthy is the 47.7% increase in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) enrolment, a field known for its scarcity of skilled professionals. This achievement aligns with CUT’s goal to reach a 50% STEM enrolment by 2030.

Encouragement for Excellence

Prof. Ngowi encouraged the first-year students to excel in their academics while also enjoying the social and sporting activities available at the university. He reminded them of the privilege they have in attending CUT and urged them to take full advantage of the opportunity.

“Attend classes, complete your assignments, develop a study plan, and make use of all the student support resources that we offer,” Prof. Ngowi concluded, emphasizing the importance of embracing the academic and social experiences that CUT has to offer.

Conclusion

The official welcoming ceremony signifies the beginning of an exciting journey for the 2024 first-year students at CUT, promising a fulfilling academic and personal growth experience.
