Welkom Campus at the Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT), commenced its 2024 academic year with a grand opening ceremony on 02 February 2024. The event, led by Prof. Pamela Dube, Vice-Chancellor and Principal, marked the beginning of a new chapter in academic excellence.

A New Chapter in Academic Excellence

Prof. Dube address highlighted the transformation of Welkom from a gold mining hub to a center for global knowledge seekers. She emphasized the crucial role of education in the Fourth Industrial Revolution’s knowledge-based economy, urging investment in education for sustainable growth.

Celebrating Achievements and Looking Ahead

2024 holds special significance for CUT as it celebrates two decades of excellence. Prof. Dube praised the university’s progress and recognition, including a notable ranking of 41 in the Times Higher Education Sub-Saharan Africa rankings. She expressed pride in the university’s staff and students for laying a strong foundation for future innovation and excellence.
