The Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf) has selected ten outstanding young scientists from South Africa to attend the prestigious 70th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting. This meeting, dedicated to the fields of Chemistry, Physics, and Physiology, will be held later this year in Lindau, Germany.

The ten nominees from South Africa will join 660 young scientists from 101 countries, along with 70 Nobel laureates, for a series of meetings from June 28 to July 3, 2024. This meeting serves as a unique platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration among some of the brightest minds in the scientific community.

Percy Hohne: A Rising Star from CUT

Among the participants is Mr. Percy Hohne, a Lecturer in Electrical Electronic and Computer Engineering at the Central University of Technology (CUT). Mr. Hohne earned his B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering in 2016 and completed his M.Eng degree (Cum Laude) in 2018, also at CUT. Currently pursuing his Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Mr. Hohne research interests focus on power and energy systems, energy management, and renewable and alternative energy systems.

Mr. Hohne expressed his gratitude and excitement for being selected to attend the 70th Nobel Laureate Meeting.
