The Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT), proudly acknowledges the esteemed Madam Justice Mahube Molemela, our very own Chancellor, for the prestigious honorary degree of Doctor of Laws (LLD) (honoris causa) bestowed upon her by the University of the Free State (UFS).

Madam Justice Molemela dedication to empowering farm workers and emerging farmers, evident in her role as a board member of The Free State Rural Development Association, exemplifies her unwavering commitment to societal progress.

Her illustrious career includes pivotal roles such as Councillor for the Free State Law Society and board member of the Free State School for Legal Practice of the Law Society of South Africa. She has also contributed significantly as an advisory board member of the Free State Centre for Human Rights.

Madam Justice Molemela has been a presiding officer in various dispute resolution bodies since 1999. Her tenure as a Judge of the High Court since 2005, followed by a permanent appointment to the Free State bench in 2008, showcases her judicial acumen. In 2024, she made history as the first female Judge President of the Free State Division of the High Court and later, in 2024, as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Appeal. Her appointment as a Judge of Appeal of the Labour Appeal Court and her service as an Acting Justice of the Constitutional Court in 2024 further underscore her remarkable legal career.
