CUT Autumn Graduations kick Off in Welkom After 20 Years. The 2024 Autumn Graduation Ceremonies of the Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) began on a high note. From the 4th to the 11th of April 2024, the CUT conferred degrees, diplomas, and certificates to a total of 4043 graduates. Doctoral degrees will be awarded to 18 individuals, while master’s degrees will be awarded to 38.

A Look Back at 20 Years of Academic Excellence

Established in 2004 as a University of Technology, CUT has consistently pursued academic excellence while serving the region. Over the past two decades, the university has achieved numerous milestones, continually raising the bar for the number of graduates who receive their qualifications.

Impressive Academic Achievements

  • Doctoral and Master Degrees: This year ceremonies will see 18 individuals receiving doctoral degrees and 38 being awarded master’s degrees, highlighting the university’s commitment to advanced education.
  • Cumulative Degrees Conferred: From 2004 to 2023, CUT has conferred a total of 66616 degrees, a testament to its dedication to academic excellence.

Focus on Research and Postgraduate Studies

  • Research Initiatives: The university has witnessed a significant increase in research initiatives, with postgraduate enrollments rising from a modest 371 in 2004 to an impressive 1646 in 2024.
  • Encouragement for Graduates: Prof. David Ngidi, CUT Deputy-Vice Chancellor of Teaching and Learning, encouraged graduates to stay curious, be open to new ideas, and never stop learning, emphasizing that their qualifications from CUT would open numerous opportunities for them.
