Mandela Day Sanitizers Donated by CUT

Mandela Day Sanitizers Donated by CUT. In light of recent reports raising concerns about the quality of some hand sanitisers, there is a growing focus on the importance of using approved products, particularly in public settings.

The Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences at the Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT), has taken a proactive step in the fight against the spread of the Coronavirus by producing and donating sanitisers.

CUT Donation to Lebone Village

As part of their Mandela Day commemoration, the team from CUT has donated 67 bottles of 500ml each of sanitiser to the Lebone Village in Bloemfontein. Dr Jane Nkhebenyane, CUT Acting Head of the Department of Life Sciences, highlighted the university’s longstanding partnership with Lebone Village, spanning six years.

“We as CUT thought we could use our self-manufactured sanitisers to help curb the spread of COVID-19,” said Dr Nkhebenyane.

CUT Impact at Lebone Village

Lebone Village provides care for 42 boys and girls aged from 3 to 23 years. Lulu Polisa, a representative from Lebone Village, expressed gratitude for the donation, emphasizing the critical role the sanitisers will play in their daily operations.

“The sanitisers are going to help us immensely. We will use them to sanitise the children’s hands, but also for our staff, especially those who do not reside at the village,” said Lulu Polisa.

CUT Further Contributions

In addition to Lebone Village, the faculty will also be dropping off sanitisers at Fereira Hospice and Hertzogville Hospice, contributing to the Mandela Day initiative of serving for 67 minutes in honor of Nelson Mandela legacy.
