Nelson Mandela Legacy is Virtually Commemorated by CUT. The Centre for Applied Food Sustainability and Biotechnology (CAFSaB) in the Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences held a virtual commemoration of Mandela Day on 17 July 2023 as we gradually adapt to the new normal and learn to live alongside.

Every year, the event celebrates the idea that everyone can make a difference and transform the world.

In their presentations, Shirleen Theisinger and Dr Elsabe botes provided insights into how their businesses are coping with the global pandemic.

Two distinguished entrepreneurs, Ms. Shirleen Theisinger and Dr. Elsabe Botes, shared their invaluable insights during the virtual event. Ms. Theisinger, the Managing Director and Lab Quality Manager of SMT Labs, reflected on the challenges and opportunities presented by the pandemic. While grappling with operational hurdles and uncertainties, she emphasized the importance of adaptability and resilience in navigating uncharted territories.

Dr. Botes, Director of Test It Lab, underscored the unexpected financial benefits her company experienced amidst the crisis, attributing it to increased demand for water quality testing in response to hygiene directives.
