Team CUTbrU wins Best African Wild Ale
Team CUTbrU wins Best African Wild Ale. The Central University of Technology, Free State’s beer brewing team, CUTbrU, achieved a remarkable feat by winning the best African Wild Ale category at this year Brewing and Tasting Intervarsity. The event, co-hosted by SAB and CUT, in collaboration with the Centre for Applied Food Security and Biotechnology (CAFSaB) and UFS, was held at the Bloemfontein Campus.

A Celebration of Beer Culture and Brewing Excellence
In its 14th year, the competition aims to ignite students’ passion for brewing and beer culture. Judged according to the Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) style guide, the event drew participation from 12 universities, featuring 50 categories.
Preparation and Dedication Pay Off
CUTbrU success didn’t come easy. The team invested significant effort in preparations, familiarizing themselves with a new brewing system. Despite the challenges of adapting to a new system, the team embraced the learning experience.
