Central University of Technology, Bloemfontein. Located in the heart of South Africa, the Central University of Technology (CUT) stands as a beacon of higher education excellence. A Rich History of Excellence

Established in 1981 as the “Technikon Free State,” CUT began its journey with just 285 students enrolled in secretarial, art, and design programs. Today, the university has grown significantly, with over 21,000 students choosing CUT for its academic excellence and commitment to providing quality education and work-integrated learning opportunities.

In 2004, with the restructuring of the higher education landscape, CUT embraced its new identity as a university of technology (UoT), positioning itself for even greater success.

Academic Offerings

CUT offers a wide range of qualifications through its four faculties:

  • Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences
  • Faculty of Humanities
  • Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment, and Information Technology (IT)
  • Faculty of Management Sciences

The university provides certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, postgraduate diplomas at honors level, as well as master’s and doctoral degrees.
